Barbara Hodapp

It takes vulnerability to decide to pursue therapy. Finding a therapist you connect with is the basis from which growth and healing can occur. My goal is to partner with you in your journey and I aim to achieve that by practicing with an affirming, compassionate gaze and relating to you on a human level. Therapy provides a space to explore thoughts and behaviors that prevent us from experiencing our best life. Whether it's addressing ingrained patterns, navigating life transitions, or exploring new facets of your identity I welcome the opportunity to support you. We'll do this together with humor, kindness and honesty, creating a space in which you feel seen as the complex individual you are.

Patient Demographics

As a licensed clinical social worker, I provide individual psychotherapy, viewing each individual within the context of their environment and focusing on their strengths. Having worked at all levels of care, I appreciate collaborating with other treatment providers to provide the best care possible.

In the midst of a struggle, we can often lose sight of our strengths, and I work alongside clients to re-connect to their inherent resilience. I enjoy working with individuals who struggle with anxiety, depression, life transitions, and managing everyday stress. I meet clients where they are, and strive to create a therapeutic environment that is affirming, accepting and inclusive. I enjoy working with those in the LGBTQ+ community, and have a special interest working with individuals struggling with eating disorders, body image and negative self-image.

To create the opportunity for change, I focus on creating a therapeutic environment where clients feel safe and supported. I take a collaborative approach to therapy, as clients are the experts in their own lives, they may just need a little support to move through what is happening at the moment. In order to achieve this, I utilize various evidence based theoretical perspectives including DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy), CBT (Cognitive Behavior Therapy), ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), strengths-based, person-centered and psychodynamic psychotherapy, tailoring this to clients’ needs.
