Karen Kuebler

Finding balance in an evolving world full of social and emotional obstacles can be exhausting. We can find ourselves stuck in patterns that no longer serve our well being. Identifying new strategies to cope with uncertainties in life can help you regain your emotional equilibrium and ease discomfort. Therapy is a safe place to practice making meaningful connection, to expand your capacity to problem solve, and an opportunity to become a more confident, empowered decision maker. My approach to therapy is collaborative, creative, and compassionate incorporating traditional talk therapy and art therapy interventions.

Patient Demographics

Art Therapy is an integrative mental health and human services profession that enriches the lives of individuals, families, and communities through active art-making, creative process, applied psychological theory, and human experience within a psychotherapeutic relationship.

Art Therapy, facilitated by a professional art therapist, effectively supports personal and relational treatment goals as well as community concerns. Art Therapy is used to improve cognitive and sensory-motor functions, foster self-esteem and self-awareness, cultivate emotional resilience, promote insight, enhance social skills, reduce and resolve conflicts and distress, and advance societal and ecological change.
From the American Art Therapy Association

Anyone can benefit from art therapy and exploring creative outlets. No prior art experience or technique is required!

As a nationally Board Certified Art Therapist and a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Supervisor in North Carolina, my therapeutic approach is creative, direct, and compassionate. I specialize in the treatment of anxiety, depression, eating disorders, body image and self-worth, grief and loss, identity development, and navigating life transitions and obstacles. I work with children, adolescents, and adults and have a particular interest in helping families improve communication and renew connections.

With 15+ years of experience across all levels of care, my work with clients draws upon extensive training in psychodynamic psychotherapy, attachment theory, and Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT). Through traditional talk therapy or active art making and processing of symbolic meaning (or both!), together we’ll create a plan that best fits your needs. I provide a safe, affirming, and inclusive environment where all are welcome.

I also offer supervision to provisionally credentialed art therapists (ATR-P).
